The ending

Very, very moving....

Each time I hear the Santo & Johnny recording of SLEEPWALK, I instinctively, yell out RITCHIEEEE-E! (a little embarrassing the times I've been in the car, the song comes on and it gets to the end....)

The song and that scene with Esai Morales, unforgettable.

Very true. But even without that scene
Sleepwalk, both the original by Santo and Johnny
and the cover by The Ventures may well be the
most haunting instrumental ever recorded.
It is impossible to resist or forget.

The very end gets me every time too. The entire ending is extremely saddening, but the very, very end when Bob cries out "Ritchieee!" and then the flashback of them racing up the hill... it just breaks my heart into pieces :( At that point I'm not just crying, I'm sobbing. I love this movie so much!

I have been a massive fan of La Bamba ever since I saw it as a kid on TV in the early 1990s. The ending is definitely one of the most powerful that I remember from my childhood. Bob yelling out his brother's name while the last notes of the song play out still brings a tear to my eye.

I saw Lana Del Rey last year on the "Endless Summer Tour" and before she came out on stage "Sleep Walk" played over the PA. In my mind I was yelling "RITCHIE!" as Lana stepped on stage. An amazing moment on so many levels.

They Live. We Sleep.
