LBJ: The Presidential Years

Was it mentioned in the fall preview of TV Guide in the fall of 1987 that there was going to be a sequel but it never happened?

I remember the early years on TV and liked it and thinking the same thing...they'll probably do a "sequel" meaning the White House years. I suspect the ratings were poor and killed the obvious second installment.

This was refreshing when it came out because few knew much about the early LBJ years. This was released prior to the PBS "LBJ" two-parter in 1991, which, I felt, was a good intro on the early years for those who knew little about him politically (the PBS series avoided personal "dirt" on Johnson, e.g. womanizing).

I always figured that the sequel would be made when Randy Quaid and Patti Lupone had aged a bit. Perhaps to coincide with the 2013 50th anniversary of JFK's demise.

I don't know if you guys noticed but they did make some kind of sequel but not what you think, it is called Path To War (2002)TV starring Michael Gambon. It takes place after he was elected to his first term in office being an elected president after the JFK assassination. The film revolved around how he dealt with Vietnam and the people he worked with. This was an HBO film and it is good I recommend you guys see that.

Also Randy Quaid is not exactly acting right now because of him and his wife being in trouble with the police.
