I know this is Kiarostami we're talking about, but...


...this film is still somehow TERRIBLY underrated. Gorgeously shot, acted. Deceptively complex. Heartbreaking. What more can you ask for?

Yes, for two big reasons:

1) It is seen as Iranian propaganda having been filmed in Iran in 1987, and therefore, taboo (even though, yes, I know, it says absolutely ZERO about the Islamic revolution in Iran or modernity at all); and

2) because it has only recently become a foreign film with English subtitles available in digital form.
