Mediocre but fun

Anyone else seen this movie? It's the oldest story in the book, and owes a very heavy debt of influence to vastly superior films like The Postman Always Rings Twice, Body Heat and Blood Simple. It's also been done since then in stuff like Red Rock West, Palmetto, Wild Things and The Last Seduction. The difference is that this one has remarkably cheap B-movie production values and some of the unintentionally funny erotic-thriller dialogue I've ever heard. A little sample:

''I saw Jimmy. He's in the lake. He's frozen and dead.''
''I'll meet you in Rio when the insurance company pays off.''
''Did you know I was cheerleader and prom queen?''
''What can I serve you that you'd really like?''
''Bass player, huh? I'll bet you have a great big amplifier.''

Yep... Having said that, it's an entertaining time-passer because it has a few nice visual touches, the novelty factor of its wintry Canadian lodge setting, and a good old-fashioned noirish feel. Also it has the stunning Olivia D'Abo, and I can happily watch her in anything.

You left out:

"When do you get off?"
"Hopefully not long after we get together."

"My name is Paikea Apirana, and I come from a long line of chiefs stretching all the way back to the Whale Rider."
