Well, I was halfway through it when I stopped it to ask myself the same question you are asking right now. I decided to visit this board to help me find some sort of answer.
I am usually very attracted to films that feature unique cinematography and photography, like Lost in Translation for example, but this one seems to be lacking in plot or characterization in such a way that technical features just can't compensate. I am finding Polly a rather annoying character, although I can also see how her charm and child like innocence is quite uncommon and can be appeal to some. I guess it is especially hard for me to relate to such a completely aimless and "ambitiousless" kind of character--with too little sense of herself and her beliefs/values to even call her a free spirit-- and who is so disconnected from the world at large. There also isn't any kind of conflict to be resolved, like no sense of twists or turns or any anticipation to drive the scenario.
I do enjoy the camera angles and the way that images are Polly's sort of filter of reality so I will watch the rest of it and try not to give up!
But right now, I am also wondering what it is I don't get.
