Housekeeping at Ebertfest

I saw Housekeeping, at Ebertbest, this past Saturday, on the big screen, in the Virginia Theatre, in Urbana Illinois. The Virginia Theatre is a very old theatre with a long and historic past. Roger Ebert does his Ebertfest here every year, and this year, one of the films that was shown was Housekeeping. I loved this movie because Sylvie was such a free spirit. The movie was funny, and you were pulling for Sylvie all the way. I saw the movie when it first came out in 1987, and love it still to this day. Christine Lahiti was here to answer questions on the movie. She said that it was the best screenplay ever sent to her. I hope that the movie will come out on DVD soon.

Lucky you. I'd love to see a Bill Forsyth retrospective if the American Cinematheque or some other theatre here in L.A. was interested in doing one.

I am so jealous!

wow, that's really great--and to meet Christine Lahti too, wow. I went on a band trip when I was 14, to Nelson, where the movie is filmed. I read the book when I was young too, and both movie and book are in my top 5.
