The complaint that Crouse was a bad choice for the female.

Crouse does seem an odd female in the film but maybe Mamet purposely knew to exploit her discomfort in being female. They divorced and each seems to have found a more compatible mate. In my opinion she was perfect for the role though many had said she "acted" terribly. Her oddness and stiffness seemed perfect for a woman who is not comfortable in a female's skin and someone who had just awakened to the male world of deception and power.
