Poker bathroom break Question

Mike intentionally goes to the bathroom before deciding whether to call or fold - so that Lindsay Crouse can see if the other player fiddles with his ring (his tell).

In most poker games, would a bathroom break in mid-hand be permitted?

I'm sure it wouldn't be permitted at WSOP or other big tournaments or even fancy cash games, but in a rotten pub like this amongst nothing but human scum, i guess it's fine.
