Foreign language spoken in Japanese version?

I'm wondering if anyone could identify this for me, or if possibly it's just a made-up language. I found the voice acting to be a bit odd. I just watched the movie for the first time in Japanese; I grew up watching the English dub. With the Japanese subtitles, I always just assumed that those scenes were originally in English, so this other language I couldn't identify really threw me off.

I don't know for sure, but I read somewhere that the original language for the movie was Honneamisian - i.e. a made-up language.

I saw a Japanese version some time back and any time it cut to the `foreign country` scenes the dialog swiched from Japanese to English.

The foreign language used in WoH has some distinct English features in it.

If I am correct (it has been a while since I saw the movie) one of the news readers says something like: '.....hurry us to war'.

It is a great movie.

Indeed, I thought it generally sounded a bit like Portugese (the "melody" or rhythm of the language) although there are some parts or phrases that sound a bit like English, not quite "Simlish-English" but something along those lines.

You read right, it's made up for the purpose of the movie
