Does anybody else love this movie?

I love this movie! I thought Jon was perfect in it. Any other 'Hiding Out' lovers out there?

reply

Yeah, I love the movie too! Annabeth is one of my favorite actresses and ever since "Pretty in Pink" I've had a soft spot for Jon.

One of my favorites! I've had a hard time finding it at any video store, though.

OMG, I LOVE Jon Cryer, he is so mad sassy! I LOVED Hiding Out and Pretty in Pink, he is such a cutie! I love when he is dancing and lip sinking in PIP, and he is just so amazing in HO! I also have see him in the sitcom Two and a Half Men when he was sleep walking and he was making a cake, and he was crashing eggs on a table. It was mad funny! Well, hope to here from you soon!

OMG, I love this movie. I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid. I was still very young when this movie came out, in fact I remember watching a tape of it (from when it was on HBO) a few years after it came out. I used to pop in the tape every now and again. I recently just got the DVD, and after watching it for the first time in years, I like it even more. There's a lot of stuff referenced from that time period, that when I was younger didn't understand, but now being 23 and a product of the 80's/90's, I get now. Jon Cryer is awesome!!

Haha I've been up all night writing a paper and I spent the last couple hours watching Hiding Out... Jon Cryer at his adorable-est totally just made my allnighter worthwhile. Something about him in this movie is just super hot.

This movie has been one of my "guilty pleasures" ever since I saw it on cable several years ago. I finally broke down and purchased the DVD of this movie.

My wife and I were watching this video (back in '94) when I asked her to marry me. This is an awsome film. I live the part where he transforms from businessman to highschool kid. I also love the roller skating scene (reminds me of when I was 14 back in '87 and went rollerskating, hoping to nab a "moonlight" skate with a pretty girl). Again, a very unique film that has yet to have an equal (but later copied by "Never Been Kissed").

This movie is great! I've loved it since the first time I saw it.

It's enjoyable seeing John Spencer in this film, it's definitely one of his early roles, (I first saw him in Presumed Innocent).

Cryer flipping off the hit man when he gets on the train in the beginning was priceless, but I always love when he tells off Mrs. Billings regarding the Watergate thing.

Since Max and Ryan didn't have sex I was able to simply enjoy this movie as a young love story, despite everyone's "creepy" responses... :)

I really enjoyed Clinton's little rap number in the bathroom, and when Max got Patrick in the bathroom and Patrick said "on this side we have heterosexual, on this side homosexual, and this is me, way the *beep* over here!"

Great movie and I'm SO glad I have it on DVD now...

If this was such a good movie, why did it only get a limited release? and my mom wants it, but we dont want to pay 50 bucks on amazon for a movie! :(

reply

A movie doesn't have to be successful, or even brilliant for people to like it.

There are some very cheesy, low budget films that I would watch every day over the most critically acclaimed films ever released. Sometimes it's just about enjoying a fun film for what it is: fun. That's just me, though.

I love this movie too. I have it on VHS my parents bought it when it first came out and I just bought the DVD.

I love the sudden transformation Jon makes in the movie. As the stockbroker, he looks at least 35! When he shaves his beard and spikes his hair, he looks 18! The film also had a great romance and a great message about crossing the generational gap.

Pretty good movie, but am I the only one who finds a thirty year old guy with a high school girl a little creepy? I mean, she doesn't know, but he does...

reply

Ok you are not alone in thinking that a 30 year old guy is creepy. I wanted to see this so bad when I was a kid, my parents wouldn't take me. I could only watch movies my whole family wanted to see which was mostly horror. So I was SOL when it came to teenage movies and art films for that matter.

If there were sexual undertones throughout the movie, I would say, "yes, I find that a little creepy."

Based on what the movie shows, I say no. Andrew/Max and Ryan had an incredibly innocent relationship. He wouldn't even kiss her when they were finished with their "date." She kissed him -- and it was the definition of a quick peck on the lips. Their only serious kiss before college was right before he revealed his identity. Max found her attractive, yes. However, he also found her interesting and mature for her age -- he just waited for her age to catch up a bit before taking things any further.

College was the right time.
