Locations

I recognised all the Los Angeles locations in the film having visited L.A. extensively on three different visits but I have yet to recognise any Greenwich Village locations. I lived and worked in that part of New York for over 15 years and have no recognition of any New York locations. Perhaps it's a interior location such as one of the small studios in the area? I think IMDb has made in error in their fact listing.

I doubt that's correct. Maybe someone mistook one of the locations for some place in NY. It all looks like L.A. to me.

By the way, I was watching it again today and paying attention to the backgrounds. The Harem Room is the former Las Palmas Theater on Las Palmas, just off Hollywood Blvd. Miceli's Italian Restaurant next door is still there. The adult bookstores, etc., lining the opposite side of the street, however, are not.

Yeah, I think your right. The IMDb info is not gospel. I think I recognise many of the streets if not the actual businesses throughout the whole movie. I'll say this, many of these films made during the eighties took good advantage of the Los Angeles locations. The Hidden is almost like a tourist video!

Obama/Biden 2008!

I see that the Greenwich Village location has been deleted from imdb, but I think I have the answer for you. The record store that is in The Hidden is Bleecker Bob's, a store that was originally a record store in NYC. At some point Bob opened a California location, and this scene was filmed inside, and outside, that store. Sadly both stores, plus the one he had in London for a while, are all closed. I am guessing that is why there was a Greenwich Village location listed. Only took about 9 years for you to get your answer!
