Why does this have such an awful rating on Netflix?

A lot of sites give Hellraiser at least a 7/10 which is decent for a low budget, relatively obscure horror movie. On Netflix, some of the most worthless wastes of celluloid have three star ratings while Hellraiser is left with a weak 1 and a half star. Halloween 6 and Resurrection as well as Highlander 3 and Endgame, sequels which are generally considered bad/awful, have higher ratings than a horror classic? What drugs are Netflix users on?

I believe a vast majority of Netflix users probably play call of duty on a daily basis therefore when they didn't see someone get their head sliced off after 4 seconds of film they rated it a 1 due to intense boredom.

I shelled out for the blu-ray trilogy steel book so I can get up & throw it on instead of watching on Netflix lol

Hey! I play that! But you're probably close. Most people want blood, guys and torture porn right away. Unfortunately a lot of people don't like to wait for a slow build, they want it now.

Are you logged in when looking at this? Netflix shows ratings in reference/result to how you've rated other things in the past, to give you an idea if you'll like it or not.

Oooh, I had no idea. I'm a newbie to Netflix and didn't realize what the star ratings meant.

They try and read your mind and rate things for you, it sucks I'd rather have user ratings like IMDb or Amazon prime.

It is hard to find stuff because of it. Either you search and come up empty or you see what Netflix thinks you want to see.

Hellraiser takes a bit of effort to appreciate and understand the first time you view it. Someone who watches the movie and goes to a site like imdb just to rate it has probably given it a good effort. Someone who watches 5 minutes of it on Netflix before giving up and deciding that they hate it can quickly give it a bad rating. Netflix is a great thing for watching movies easily, but its also a great tool for half watching movies and not giving them a good chance.

It seems like every single thing I see on there has a low rating. I don't pay any attention to them at all. I just watch whatever I want to.

Netflix is generally watched by young'uns so don't expect something from a different time to strike a chord with them. Finding a Netflix viewer who was even alive in 1987 is like finding a clover with 4 leaves. Something that infuriates me no end knowing that they now own the rights to Black Mirror and may likely kill that show.
