Most people crying about the dam CAT are being HYPOCRITS!!!

One poor cat MAY have been killed in front of the cameras(very debatable), but loads of rats WHERE definitely set on fire and probably died because of it.

Very few of you who cried so much about that ONE cat, remembered mentioning the suffering of all those rats...probably because the cat is so much cuter. Now that is being extremely HYPOCRITICAL!!! Don't you think?

Think about that for a second, before you're feeling all morally superior...

Also, I see no threads from upset posters, having found out about the real life facts of the thousands of humans, who was being experimented upon, tortured and killed. Surely most of you must have found out about these atrocities after watching this movie or hearing about the movie. And then all your attention goes out to one cat. I find this strange. Very strange indeed.

Even more strange is some of the animal lovers on here, who asks for more sympathy for the animals. But in the same posts mentioning how they don't care much for humans. Figure that out!?

I think this speaks volumes about the state of mind of the human race in general.

I'm pissed about the rats too. I'm aware there are differences in my culture and the director's but I'd still be VERY tempted to punch him in the face if we ever met.

There's a difference between animals and people. The difference is that people are capable of evil, animals are not. Animals are driven by instinct and hormones. And I'll be just as pissed off at a video of a person getting eaten alive by rats if it's a real person.

i actually thought the rat scene was really pretty, kind of had the sam effect on me as when i first saw fireworks "ooooooooooooooooooooh"
visually it worked very well.

for the record, i think all people who AREN'T veggies and complain about any animal death in a movie is a huge hypocite.

Like humans, animals are living creatures who feel pain and suffering but unlike humans (excluding infants and children), they are completely vulnerable. Those poor animals who where killed for the film didn't stand a chance.

I'm pretty sure the OP is referring to the people who were killed, raped and tortured in WWII by Japanese soldiers. So it's irrelevant that people are generally less vulnerable than animals.

You should consider getting your priorities straight!

Well, let's look at the definition(s):

1. a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.
2. a person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, esp. one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.
.... In that case, no, they aren't hypocritical. They just like cats more than rats.

I watched this film for the first time last night, and came here specifically to moan about the rats. Damn, that was pretty awful, and so many of them! I have mice, and they're some smart, cute and industrious little creatures. So that's a shame they died that way, just for some cinematic thrills. Animal snuff!

I despise cats, but the scene with the cat was equally awful to watch. And what about the bird? I don't know whether it died, but that scene didn't look too fun for the poor creature.

More science, less fiction.

Ummm...I'm sorry grrrdevin, but if you are protesting animal rights, yet you could give a rats ass (pun) about a rats ass, then I believe that falls under hypocrisy. That would be like a human rights activist saying "I like Latino's better than African American's." Sorry if I offended anyone with that analogy, but if you are avid about defending the rights (whether animal, human, gay, religious, etc.) you do not get to pick and choose. Unless I was absent that day in my Ethics class.

Killing to eat is different than killing to watch suffer. Vastly different concepts. You could argue we have advanced beyond the need to eat flesh, but eating doesn't equate supporting torture.

Check out my list, recommendations welcome.

People only care about cute animals. I've never seen a clearer example of this than all the people pissed at a cat that wasn't even killed, yet the same people make no mention of a hundred rats being set on fire.
People are only caring when it suits them. When an animal makes them go 'awww' and feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Otherwise people couldn't care less.
These people aren't animal lovers at all. They like cute things. Whether it's a cute cuddly animal or a teddy bear, it's the same thing in their mind.
