Best scene ever in film??????

Of all of the movies in the world, it seems impossible to have the best scene ever come from THIS one. But...I have never seen a more touching moment in film than when Don Ameche sees Harry for the first time. The character had a passion for years of finding this creature, then after a lot of soul searching, he had to convince himself that his dream would never happen, and that "bigfoot" didn't exsist. Then he turns and sees his treasure standing right there. His performance is so incredible, it brings me to tears every time.

Yeah, that's right...Harry and the Hendersons.

its a great scene, dont know about the best.
in the film, my favourite scene is when george teaches harry how to sit. its one of the funniest scenes ever made. harry's face when he grins at george is hilarious.

That's for sure! I've been waiting for my kids to get a little older to let them watch it. I thought the beginning might scare them, and that the lenght might lose their interest. But now, they're 5 and 4, so I can't wait to show it to them!

reply

lenght?

reply

sorry, misspelled length

I agree, George teaching Harry how to sit was hilarious. That face Harry gave George was priceless! I also liked the scene at the end when George told Harry to take care of himself and Harry said "Okay." Lefur said "Monkey... they have a language?" Great movie, can't wait to buy it on DVD!

I like the scene where Harry eats the Hendersons goldfish, I don't know why but I think its funny the way George says "Hey!" after he sees Harry eat the goldfish. Also the scene where George shows Harry how to sit and the scene where Lefur's lawyer Jerome gets him out of jail and says to him, "you need a bath" then Lefur says to Jerome "What? and blow my cover?"

reply

"He reeeeaaallly wants to come in!"

when i was young i thought Sarah was cute, now I just wish that Harry gutted her when she admonishes him for eating her 15th birthday corsage.

To this day I can never get into a hot tub without thinking of this movie. The scene where Harry's watching the lady get into the hot tub, then watching the chicken being put in the crock pot cracks me up!

reply

My Favorite is watching him laugh at the tv show - it makes me laugh with him everytime.

reply

The "Hey!" scream is definitely one of the best parts in the movie. I also always laugh at the part where George is on the streets looking for Harry and he hears a gun shot... "Harry!"

Lafleur actually said "Mon dieu (french for "My God"), they have a language?" :)

reply

lol "Monkey"? He says "mon dieu" It's french for "my god".

I don't know, man. I saw this movie when I was four, and because of that, slept with the light on 'till I was twelve. Of course, I was a total weenie, but to this day, I'm still scared *beep* of Sasquatch.

...Sasquatch and zombies.

Anyway, I vividly remember being scared the most at the part where he runs away from the Hendersons and is ransacking the city.

These are both good scenes. Not best ever good but very good.

The best scene is when George is teaching Harry how to sit. I couldn't stop laughing. Then when George tells Harry not to sit after breaking all the furniture, Harry give George that priceless devilish grin lol. The best scene hands down.

That was a fantastic portion of the film. It gives George the insight into just how smart Harry is.

Another hilarious scene was when Harry is laughing at the movie, eating plants with ranch dip and slightly nugged Ernie. But did anyone notice the scene when Harry takes the bumper off of the car and throws it into the pool, Harry actually wipes his hands clean with a towel lol. Was that a goof or was that Harry?

I loved the belly laughs that he belted out. I think that that was just Harry but I am thrilled to have the new(er?) Special Edition so hopefully I can check that out soon.

I loved this film watching it as a kid. It's been the one movie that actually moved me to tears.

The 2 scenes I loved the most was towards the end when the Hendersons take Harry to the forest to send him back before the hunter catches him. Harry doesn't want to leave and George know he has to go or he'll get killed. After trying unsuccessfully to get him to go, he get angry at Harry and starts hitting him. Afterwards Harry just looks upset. Soon he leaves and George and his whole family start crying. I was balling at this scene cause as a kid I knew why George was doing what he did, but it painfull to see his slapp Harry even though you know he didn't want to do it.

The other more funny scene I vaugly remember was where Harry gets hit or kicked in his nuts. At first get swell up with anger and is about to let out an angry growl. Then at the last second, he stops, his face grimaces and he lets out a painful moan as the pain from getting hit in the nuts finally sets in. Funniest scene for me.

I like when wainright (is that his name) see's Harry and than says he will help them take Harry back and goes out to his truck and gets a sleeping bag and comes back and lay's it down beside Harry and than Harry grabs branches from his bed and starts putting them in the sleeping bag. Harry is just so adorable.

The funniest part is when Harry got kicked in the nards, i guess you can say "Bigfoot's got nards".

"It's the Stay-Puft Marshmellow Man!"-Ghostbusters.

All these comments now gives me the fire to go buy the classic film on DVD.

For me one of two of the best parts is when he is burying the trophys and the Father has Harry in his crosshairs and sees the emotion in Harrys face and ends up helping him bury the trophys.

The other was at the end when it seems that Harry is leaving and seems to be walking alone into the woods and the rest of the Bigfoots exit stealth mode and join him.

Made of win.

I was surprised that there was only this one comment on the scene when George is going to kill Harry as the house is getting destroyed. As Harry is exploring the house and finding the many "trophies" that George had previously shot, George says something like "I'm not going to just stand by while it destroys our house!" He climbs the ladder with his rifle intending to kill Harry. He puts the crosshairs between Harry's eyes, and almost pulls the trigger as Harry comes into the light, while caressing the mink stole. George sees a very sad face of understanding and intelligence on Harry, watching Harry's eyes and expressive sadness toward the poor dead mink from the closet. You watch George's realization that Harry is a very caring and emotional intelligent being, rather than a destructive intruder. George's protective instincts and anger give way to the reality... How can he possibly kill this wonderful creature?! Very moving.

For me it's the scene where they have Harry strapped to the roof and the dad says something along the lines of 'it's all a matter of how you look at it' and Harry looks in the window. The reaction of the family is one of the funniest things ever!

reply

Naw, the best scene is when the neighbor screams at Harry in the window and just as Jacque is turning to see why, Harry is replaced by George.
