Does anyone else find this line hilarious?

During the dinner scene with the Henderson's, Don Ameche's character tells a story to which the daughter replies "That's so sad...". And then he says to to her, in a very condescending tone.. "Well I didn't tell it so that you could cry into your sprouts or.....whatever that is, darling" followed by a 2-3 second silent pause LOL hilariously deadpan.
