Emotional Response to HATH? - Spoilers! -

I feel like such a pansy posting this, but maybe some of those members on IMDB will be able to relate with me, so maybe I won't feel like such a pansy.

When I was a baby or older (1yr - 3yr old) I used to watch Harry and the Hendersons a MILLION times. My father claims that White Fang (With Ethan Hawke) was watched much more.

About a year ago, one of my old pets had passed away (Cancer, she was about 12 or 13yrs old, golden retriever) I remember how much everyone one else cried about her, I did later, when I was by myself.

A couple months later, we got HBO, and Harry and the Hendersons (Which I had not seen since was about 3 or 4) came on. Now everytime I watch this movie, any emotional scenes with Harry involved just rip me up so much that I cry. This movie is the equivalent to those who cried watching E.T. for me.

These are the Scenes that destroy me:

- When George's (The Always brillant John Lithgow) puts the rifle crosshairs on Harry's forehead, and Harry gives this real human stare to him.

- The Tearful explanation with George and Ernie explaining how its wrong to domesticate Harry (and Harry runs off screaming through town)

- Harry staring at the freeway with all those cars (and Harry's Reaction to them)

- The burying of all the dead animals in the yard.

- Don Ameche with his reaction to Harry.

- The Confrontation with George and Harry about how he has to leave.

- The Scene with Harry showing compassion to Jaques (David Suchet) and stops George from hitting him again.

- The Final sequence with Harry finding the other sasquatches.

To be honest, I find myself choking up while typing all those scenes now.
All I ask is, did anyone else have a emotional response to this movie?
Does anyone think the passing of one of my pets makes it unfair that I cannot watch the movie without getting emotional during those parts?
To fill you in, I do not get real emotional at all, so I found this to be suprising to me that I would be emotional during those parts.

Oh my God! There's a Bear in my Oatmeal!

Yes one of the few films that make me cry especially the ending and when he put his hand out Jaques head , cried my eyes out! :P

'Dont push it.....il give you a war you wont believe....let it go.....let it go'

For me, it's when George has to yell at Harry to leave. And when that doesn't work, he ends up having to punch him. Makes me teary-eyed every time.

Agree with you on all the scenes you mention !

The ones that especially get me are , don ameche's wonderful reaction to harry ! we share in his reaction as he know's his life's passion has just been realised in that moment he sees harry ! :)

And harry showing compassion for Jaques ! wow !

Absolutely brilliantly acted by all concerned and a film that may look silly on the surface but actually contains some incredibly endearing moments !
