So does the witch actually eat anybody, or what?

Forgive me if this is a stupid question; my daughter was home sick from school today and watched this movie. I hung around and watched most of it with her, but had to get up to answer the phone, put laundry in the dryer, etc. so I did not see the whole thing.

Ok, so the witch wants to fatten up the kids so she can cook and eat them, right? But then we learn she wants to bake them into big gingerbread cookies to stick on her property. So which is it? And why does she care so much about fattening them up before baking them, she doesn't want scrawny cookies?

I thought it was nice that they avoided the story being too gruesome this way (all the kids were saved at the end) but it sort of made no sense.

No the witch didn' eat anyone. Indeed it made little sense first fattening up Hansel while she was not going to eat him. Or maybe she thought she had enough gingerbread childeren now and would start eating them.
