DON'T BOTHER

Nothing but anti-peace movement right wing trash complete with an anti-war Jane Fonda clone.

Waste of time.

It did feel like a waste of time to me.
The Jane Fonda bit was like they were stepping on egg shells trying to be PC but not wanting to cause controversy.
If you´re going to cover a subject like prisoners being held against their will in a Vietnam hell hole, show it for what it was worth or don´t bother.

If it harms none, do what thou wilt.

Very likely the producers wanted to avoid a possible lawsuit...shame they did, though. It would have been interesting to have Jane Fonda's treason placed on the record in a court of law.

And also dead-on historically accurate.

Not surprising when you note that Col. Leo Thorsness was the main technical advisor. Col. Thorsness was an F-105F Wild Weasel pilot, had shot down one MiG-17 while protecting a flight of A-1 "Skyraiders" which were supporting a rescue mission. Eleven days following that action, while on his 93rd mission (seven short of completing his tour), then-Maj. Thorsness and his EWO were shot down by a Mig-21. Both crewmen ejected from their aircraft and were subsequently captured.

Thorseness and his EWO, Capt. Harold Johnson, were both decorated for their part in defending the A-1's and supporting that rescue mission (Thorsness was awarded the Medal of Honor, Johnson was awarded the Air Force Cross), but the announcement of those decorations was withheld in order to not allow the NVA to use it for propaganda purposes. Thorseness was tortured brutally by the North Vietnamese, so badly did they damage his back that upon his release in 1973, Thorsness was permanently grounded by the Air Force. He retired in October of 1973 at the rank of Colonel.

The only reason this movie is "right wing trash" is because it accurately and honestly depicts what the prisoners of the North Vietnamese endured, and you can't wrap your mind around the fact that the "peace movement" was part Communist stooge, part idealistic fool and majority treason. I served in the United States Air Force, and I have flown combat. I would be proud to fly into the jaws of Hell with the men who survived Hoa Lo, the Rockpile, Son Tay and the other NVA prisons. As for defending people like you...that's just an occupational hazard. Defending your right to spout idiocy and abuse freedom of speech is the price I, and others, had to pay in order to defend the liberties of the decent people of this country. You're the type who I hope gets his wish to live under the system you seem to love so much...and I hope you get that wish good and hard!

Unless you served in the United States Air Force during ww2, you did not defend OP freedom, as for the Vietnamese prison camps, yes they did terrible things, but considering what the United States Air Force was doing to their country, i can understand why they did it.

You're welcome. Scumbag.
