25 Years Ago

This movie opened in theaters on Friday, May 15, 1987, and thus had its 25th anniversary last month. I am a little late on that, but this past week I rented it out from a Blockbuster and watched three times on my DVD player. I had originally seen it three times when it first came out, on Fridays, May 15, 22, and 29, 1987 in a movie theater. I was 19 and had just gotten out of college for my freshman year, and saw alot of movies in theaters that summer. And I really liked The Gate, it became one of my favorite movies of all time. I then rented it out from a video store on Saturday, April 16, 1988 and watched it that night. This was near the end of my sophmore year in college, when I was home for a weekend. I then brought a copy of it in December, 1988 from another video store that was closing, and watched it a few more times until the mid 1990s. I thought it might seem somewhat dated to me when I watched it this week after all these years, but I learned that was not the case at all, and I liked it as much now as I did then.
