Possible Idea's for a remake

Just finished watching this 80's nugget of nostalgia. Got me thinking about a premise for a remake. Actually a pretty easy one.

We all know that hip hop is the new heavy metal. It's the new music that responsible parents wouldn't want their innocent children listening to (even though they do). Enter an "Illuminati" spin-off. Now, I don't think using that name directly would be a good idea, but using a similar type of cultish group would.

The story centers around a rap group and a leaked album about "The dark masters", who will be credited as the inspiration for the Illuminati (to make it real world), who went missing/died/committed suicide after their album was leaked. What will make this thing really interesting is that the leaked album will be distributed through a chan site, like 4 chan, or 8 chan to keep things underground and legit.

Prior to anything happening in the story, we will see internet arguments over the legitimacy of the material, most calling it BS and a publicity stunt while some believe it could be the real deal.

This is where the story begins. The story is more or less exactly the same with a few changes. Instead of a cosmic alignment, the alignment will be based on a prophesy made within the album, based on some obscure satanic/ancient alien book (I own books like these, they are common). Weird things start happening to the entire family, and nobody knows what's going on until the friend starts cluing on the rituals that are taking place. There is actually potential here to make this more of a global thing than limited to a single family. Maybe anyone who listened to the album starts experiencing these things.

Now, I'm not a writer so this is just a general idea and I think with talented writers it could really work!

Anyone else have ideas for a remake?

Actor/ Director Alex Winter is already working on a 3D remake.

Really? I haven't heard anything about that.

I'm kinda done with 3D, so hopefully by the time it gets made that wont be a thing.

So true. Heavy metal is still the king. Hip-hop is just what young people listen to just to be in the in-crow acting all thought and gangsta. I just can't stand it.

Heavy metal is about rocking and having a good time. Not like hip-hop whose lyrics are about false pride and pretending to be from the ghetto. Ghetto people are uneducated spend their life scatting houses and stealing. They don't know better they can't afford to get educated. They would give anything to get out of there if they could.

You didn't understand what I meant. I don't think...

It's the new "Devil music". The new music your parents don't want you listening to.

Had nothing to do with the actual spirit of the music itself. Nobody cares about the influences of metal anymore because everyone knows that metalheads are pretty chill and intelligent, VS hip hop which is the exact opposite. It's the enemy to the Church now!

Plus rap stars do as much drugs and hard partying as rock stars have ever done, they have as many groupies too...It's 2015 and you can't make a movie about Metal anymore. As much as that sucks to say. It just isn't relatable to today's audience.

Does that make more sense, or am I a retarded idiot?

reply

Thank god you aren't alex winter because whatever movie you just describedsounds incredibly awful.
