so okay. i guess the lady who played Florencia was nominated and didn't win. but.....the actress who played Gaby didn't get squat. and....the picture wasn't nominated or anything....ummm. okay..this proves to me, beyond a doubt, that the academy awards suck.

I did, which is why I'm here. Surprised to see how little activity there is on imdb about this movie. Surprised to see the actress who played Gaby never went on to do much else(think the only other real notable thing was a popular role on the sitcom The Nanny). She was great in this, and it really was a pretty good flick.
I thought the performance was good but not Oscar worthy.
An unimpaired actor playing the role would have had a better chance of being noticed by the academy. That's how they think. A year after Dustin Hoffman won for Rain man and Sean Penn got a nomination for "I am sam".
The academy is also obsessed with Nazis and gender issues but those are topics for another discussion.
