Ellen Gallagher: Gender-questioning?

Boy's haircut, playing a male role in Thanksgiving play... it just leaves you wondering, that's all.

Many kids play a gender-opposite role in school plays just like adults do in pantomime.

Ellen Latzen was not cast to portray a trangendered child and none of the signs were evident. She took her teddy to bed, wore a nighty, was very close to her father and loved her pet rabbit. She also played with her mother's lipstick at the beginning, applying it against her mother's better advice.

All these comments happen because she had a short haircut but I don't recall that ever being a sign of gender issues!! Maybe her parents had it cut short in the movie due to an outbreak of lice in the story?  It's irrelevant.
