why isnt alan arkins face on the poster?

he was the key figure

I agree, I believe the person who makes a bigger impact and is in it the longest should be on the poster, not that Rutger Hauer- who comes into it after over an hour, and only spends his time in the film smoldering, and mainly at the prettiest girl in the movie.

Rutger Hauer´s character helps them escape rather than just talk about it as the Alan Arkin character did.

Let´s be honest, would you consider Alana Arkin to be a world class actor like Rutger?
That is why Rutger is on the cover.

LOL. Much as I love Rutger, Alan Arkin is a FAR better actor. Sorry.

No doubt, but when did acting ability have anything to do with star quality & pulling power to draw audiences in?

I was surprised also, after seeing the film recently. It could be a retrospective decision, as movie posters are sometimes changed over time to market a film on a star's popularity/appeal to make the film more successful. But I agree, Rutger is a great actor and completely different in style to Alan but Alan is far more prominent in the story.
