What did Moose do to end up in Juvie?

What did Moose do that would have him sent to Juvenile Hall. I mean he was young and did not seem like the kind of kid to break the law, and did they ever mention his real name, because I think Moose was his nickname.

Also I found the treatment of the Second Chance children was biased. The two bullies burned their teepee, and were not punished yet the head counceller wanted to send the second chances home, but the bullies never got punished for burning their teepee, if you ask me they would also be juvenile hall material.

I think at one point Counselor Stennis refers to Moose as "Mustafa" during the first lake scene, so it might be a nickname based on his real name.

I don't know what Moose might have done to end up with those kids. Maybe it was also kind of a foster situation and he didn't have anywhere else to go.

I always wondered too because they don't say, and to me, I was 9 when I first saw this, he looked kind of young to do anything serious enough to deserve jail time.

Moose very much seemed the kind of kid who went along with whatever the rest of the gang was doing- which very likely meant he was involved in whatever crimes they did. (Remember, even though he didn't seem to keen on it, he was still with them when they gave Ernest the poison ivy.) He didn't seem to be very bad himself, but he would still be guilty by association.

By this logic Moose pulled the trigger on a drive by shooting. That's how he ended up in Juvie.

If I remember correctly I think he robbed a couple of liquor stores.

convicted serial rapist and batterer, also on charges for using and selling crack.

Mustafa/"Moose" probably did some petty theft, coming from a rough neighborhood.

Not to excuse or demonize him - that's just reality for many kids.

Yea i think Moose's parents had him stealing stuff and he got caught leading to a foster situation and they put him in the boy's home for a little while to scare him straight but all it did was make him more streetwise
