the locomotive
The locomotive used in the movie looked like a GP-38 or GP-40. Anybody out there know?

I think the Loco is an ex MoPac GP38-2 cos the number fits their GP38-2 number series and the paint is MoPac to my knowledge.

From a photo I found on rrpicturearchives.net, Mike's right. It doesn't mention MoPac, but says UP 319, an "early phase" GP38-2, played the part of "Southland 2377." The photo ID # is 424274.
I don't know about you guys, but other than a GP30, I can usually only tell a GP from an SD, and anything more than that will have to come from reading the "fine print" on the cab. An old friend of mine says "There are only two kinds of diesel locomotives: ALCOs, and everything else." 8-)
