This guy has balls! An interesting, and important Film! - spoilers -

- some spoilers -

I have a good Asian friend, and he recently lent me his copy of this.

I put it in thinking it might be some corny kung fu movie, but after
a second, you realize that of course, it's in fairly recent time. Then I thought,
ok, so what's going on here? OK, this guy is trying to do something, what is he
raving about? What? The Emperor? HUH? he's saying what? OK, so
this is sort of interesting.. then he curses out local cops? cool! OK, now the wrestling, and
slugfest.. huh? wow! Amazing.. This guy is trying to make something of his life
after what he witnessed, and judged to be a foolish war, started by a false god.

OH, so that's what this is about! He's trying to get criminals of the time very shortly
after the war ended, to admit their guilt, and to atone for crime.,

oh, and they did what? OMG!

wow! This was an eye opener, and fairly good!

"very shortly after the war ended"

The events of the film are in the early 1980s, almost 4 decades after the criminal events.

The poster meant that the crimes in question transpired shortly after the war ended. Indeed they did.

What did you read?

"He's trying to get criminals of the time very shortly
after the war ended, to admit their guilt"

No; he is trying to get the criminals to admit their guilt some forty years after the fact.

The man was clearly insane and most likely suffering from forms of PTS from the war

he belonged in a mental asylum or jail when he wasnt serving in the military

Just finished watching the film on LinkTV.
Talk about culture shock! The guy barges into another man's house, beats him up and then they continue talking like nothing ever happened! At the end they bow to each other about a dozen times - totally freaky!!!
I agree with cairopimp - the man belonged in a mental institution. But that takes nothing away from the shocking story that he wanted so desperately to tell. And the truth that he was after.
New Guinea, 1945... it was worse than hell. And for what???

It didnt end well for us

We got atom bombed twice(which killed members of my family) and western influence still took over.

"a foolish war, started by a false god"

The main aspect that makes Okuzaki's way of behaviour totally unacceptable for me is the fact that he constantly claims to be doing God's will.

So whether it is fake or real Gods - they all just want to see bloodshed.

Look at Okuzaki's final deed and you'll see that he did not have balls at all.
Rather a mixture of blind obsession, desperation and paranoid anger.
