I tried to play "dead time stories" included on that big box set deal, and it didn't play on one machine, but it did play on another, but the quality was pretty lame. Maaybe they copied it from a vhs? if the producers care, they'd do a good quality delux dvd of this film. Anyone know who i could write to to ask?

Well apparently someone does own the copywrite. I talked to the webmaster of the official site because I, like everyone else, thought that it was public domain and he said that it is not public domain and it being on the 50 pack was a mistake and that it is now removed. So if anyone buys a 50 pack now, they probably won't have this movie.

I know nobody is probably going to read this, but just in case... I just bought the '50 Chilling' DVD this week and this movie is on it. Maybe I just got an older version. It was on sale at Borders for $14.99 instead of $19.99
