Only somebody as Beautiful as Phoebe can pull off the boyish hairdo!

Even with the boyish hairdo, that Phoebe Cates sported, looked more BEAUTIFUL than the Angel to me! JMO.

i love Phoebe especially with this cut, i think its so lovely but what constitutes as 'boyish' is up for debate. just because its short doesn't mean its boyish. when i think boyish i think Jane Lynch-- even with long hair and a mini skirt this woman could never be anything other than boyish, lanky, and while talented as an actress is very unattractive.

This look was popular then. Look st Demi Moore in GHOST. Striking, beautiful features. but lovely, delicate face.

Sorry, I have to respectfully disagree that Phoebe looked better than the angel. I'd pick the angel 100% of the time with that short haircut Phoebe was sporting. And I actually prefer darker hair on women!

The thing about Phoebe Cates is she needs little to no makeup to look stunning. & she looked exotic & angelic at the same time, not very many have that kind of beauty.

Agreed!

Phoebe did look beautiful.

I hated Phoebe's haircut in this movie, but bad haircut or no, she always looks stunning. The angel was just as beautiful, in my opinion. I was only 13 when this movie came out, and can remember thinking these were the two most beautiful women on the planet lol

reply

She had to look totally opposite than the angel...Long blonde hair vs. short black hair. Check out other movies where 2 women are in competition with each other for a guy...Twister, Helen Hunt, long blonde, vs. Jamie Gertz, short black, is one example.

Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy is another. 

Not disagreeing or agreeing... but having two of the most beautiful women ever (in film) in the film, Emmanuelle Beart and Phoebe Cates - both, is a win-win!
