DVD?

This movie will probably gain more publicity once Greg McLean's "Rogue" comes out. Pity it's not available on DVD anywhere. Or is it? Does anyone know?

reply

Probably not. It's never been released here in Australia, and I can't find it on DVD or eBay.

Here's hoping one day it will be on DVD. Anywhere!

reply

IMDB DVD details linked - to nothing. I suspect that indicates a foreign DVD... TBA

youre right about it getting released when rouge gets released. however i had to order a ex rental vhs copy from amazon which has cost me a total of $25 australian.

only because its from the same director who brought us fotress with rachel ward the previous year, and that was nothing short of a masterpiece.

You're right about "Fortress." Great little Aussie thriller from a very promising genre director who died too young. The scene where Rachel Ward strips to her underwear and goes for a swim is a favourite of mine.

I'm really surprised no Aussie DVD distrib has released it yet. I would have thought this is the kind of thing Madman or Siren would have snapped up by now.

i believe there is or was some sort of ownership distributions rights restriction, apparently it was never released commercially here in Oz (although I vaguely remember it - in a short run at I I think the Regent Theatre before it sad demise) - I was able (same as others) to obtain a U.S. VHS of it and have transferred it to DVD-R so..........
happy days!!!!

probably very short notice that wont get noticed until its too late, but its screening tommorrow 26th of Jan 09, at ACMI in Melbourne, 4.00pm I believe. Possibly one of the only public screenings of this film in Australia.

reply

Yes, it did screen at ACMI today at 4:15pm. My brother and I went, and unfortunately, besides us, there was probably only another six people watching the film. This was a shame because I thought it was a great croc flick. Quite different from other killer croc films, because the star is trying to save the croc, and not kill it.
Unfortunately, it looked like it was a VHS copy screened digitally. Not great at all, and looked nothing like the clips did in "Not Quite Hollywood" which were amazing!

reply

Yeah I was there also. Was disappointed for a second about the VHS copy but ah well, beggar's can't be choosers'.
Did you notice a "certain actor" who appeared not in this film but a few other Ozploitation films in the cinema during the screening?
