Frances ( the mother in this movie)

When I was 7 years old in 1988 and saw this movie on HBO...the lady that played the character of, Frances, the mother in the movie...scared the hell out of me ! I watch the movie now, and only find it slightly scary, mosty just funny now...but, back when I was 7...This lady freaked me out....wonder what happened to her...it says she only made the one movie ~

anyone else find her scary in this movie ?

cool to see someone else finds this movie as scary as do !........every scene that the mother is in once she gets infected, is some of the scariest stuff in a movie I could think of...

***** May Contain spiolers****

when she eats all the nasty looking food with her fingers, always thought that was gross....and then right before she gets locked in the basement celler....when she trys to kill her son and husband....she looks real gross with her slimey and blistered covered face, and hair that has turned grey.....man, that stuff gave me nightmares as a kid...

I watched this movie when i was about 9 or so and the only thing I can remember about this movies is the scary mother. I don't think I even finished watching this movie, because I don't remember an ending. I forgot about this movie and have not seen it since i was 9. If I can find this movie, I will upload it to my youtube account at www.youtube.com

I actually met her on a flight from Little Rock to Chicago, very nice lady! She was nominated at Cannes for Best Actress for that role, but she never did another movie, she had a family instead. She seems to be very happy and have a great life, even if she isn't in the spotlight. Her daughter is doing a one-woman show in Chicago, though, called One Night Stand.
I actually haven't even seen the movie yet, but I am excited to, I loooove B horror flicks! It sounds grand!

I found Frances to be very frightening as well. WARNING: Possible *SPOILER*. The scene with her attacking Davidson in the basement was positively terrifying. I especially liked when Davidson lit a match and you saw Frances standing right behind him. Scray stuff, man!

I enjoy keeping busy. Satan finds work for idle hands.

All the scenes with Frances were distrubing.

I saw this when I was about 9 or 10, and it really disturbed me and my brother. We still talk about it 20 years later.

Remember the scene at the end (the last time it shows Frances)? What do you think was going on there? The lightbulb was swinging and it was tough to tell what she really looked like. From what I could tell she was turning into a pile of goo. Any thoughts?

Watched this movie last night for the first time. My husband and I were talking weird movies and he mentions one that freaked him out with a guys arm turning into a snake. Did some research and figured out it was "The Curse 2". So I went to netflix and saw that 1 and 2 are on the same disc and I popped the disc in last night.

Regarding the mother - definately GOO! The way I took it was the Goo came from 'out there', crashed here in a frozen state and then melted into the ground. Everything that consumed it was morphed and consumed BY it. So by the time the goo takes over, it turns YOU into GOO and melts you back into the ground to keep repeating the cycle. The ending with the ground breaking up and the underground RIVER of goo reinforces this. Now it's the original 'crash landing' goo AND the family's goo, the animal's goo, etc.

I'm watching The Curse 2 tonight.

c'mon Nathan was the show-stealer here! some fans affectionately call him the abusive cranky ronald reagon of 80s horror cinema!

no matter how crazy/wild/insane/demonic/nutty frances would get, good ol' nathan had the iron fist in tha howse and most likely a big ol' BELT for frances, regardless.....

I know this post is old but, I just came across this thread. I haven't seen the movie yet. I was looking at the cast members and started to read around about them.

I found this: https://www.facebook.com/KathleenJordonGregory/info

It says she died in 1988 from stomach cancer.
