Great movie; question

I really loved this film. As well as the final scene, I loved the occasional funny dialogue. Love James Woods; one of my favourite actors.

One question: I thought I'd seen (at least parts of) this film when I was younger but the scenes I remember were not in this film, such as the following:

- James Woods (I think it was him) mixes various foods in a blender and drinks it for breakfast
- There are flashback scenes with James Woods and his friends beside a lake in a park

Can you please help me identify this film? Note: I'm pretty sure it was James Woods but maybe I remember incorrectly
