Wrong Name?

I'm watching this on cable (with no Tivo) so I can't rewind but I'm almost sure after Eric Clapton sang "Wee, Wee Hours" Chuck said "thank you Eric Johnson". This is an understandable mistake (not because there is an Eric Johnson, who wasn't that well known at the time). But if he did I figure they would have fixed it in editing. Is this a mistake they left in or am I just getting old?

Thanks,

You know I heard the same thing, but I did rewind it (watching it on TIVO) and listened more closely and he did say Eric Clapton. It reminds me of a story I read about Chuck punching Keith (recounted in the movie) but later (not mentioned) he supposedly apologized to Ronnie Wood thinking he was Keith.

I guess if it was absolutely imperative for him to slug a Rolling stone guitar player, one is as good as the other.

The song features a wonderful solo by piano player Johnnie Johnson. Before his solo Eric Clapton says "Johnnie Johnson!" After the song Chuck says "Eric Clapton!"

If you had only seen it once, it's understandable that those names could transpose themselves.

At one point in the film, after Julian Lennon sings "Johnnie B. Goode" Chuck says "John.... JULIAN Lennon!"

...or Chuck was saying the birth name of John Julian Lennon.
Look it up in IMDb!

..."how bout it how bout it.....Is he all right? Eric Clapton ladies and gentleman, man of the blues!..."

Some people are really bad with names. Some people are really bad with faces. Chuck was bad with both.
