Isn't everything filmed in Vancouver BC?

Part was filmed in Dawson City, Yukon Territory. I remember the news publicity at the time. The exterior of the Palace Grand Theatre, built in 1899 by Arizona Charlie Meadows and restored by Parks Canada in the 1960s, serves as the exterior of the general store. The water tower, however, is not part of the Dawson landscape. I believe "Kate's" is an actual establishment in Dawson. I also recognize the hillside behind the town, and the first view over town near the beginning of the movie was taken from somewhere up on the Midnight Dome, a hill overlooking town (with a paved, drivable road up it).

What is most laughable about the movie is the drivers of the truck making it some 1800 miles or more in about 24 hours when they stop goofing off and really put the pedal to the metal. The last location reference I saw gave the distance to Prince George, and it's still a long way, whether you take the Cassiar Highway or the Alaska Highway. I assume Willow Creek is fictionally placed somewhere near the coast, so perhaps on the Kenai Peninsula, or it replaces Valdez, or it could even be Haines, Alaska's "sister village" in the panhandle!

I always took the drive (how far they drove in the time allotted) with a grain of salt, so to speak. A little suspended disbelief is helpful on movies like this. It is fun to watch...it's a regular for us. We have the DVD.
