John Schneider - lovely, caring guy

My daughter was in this film and was very nearly the victim of being hit by the truck when it went out of control in one scene. It was horribly scary. My daughter jumped out of the way in time not to be hit, but she could have been killed.

We were taken to a trailer for a break and a breather, and John Schneider was the ONLY person on set who showed any interest. He came to the trailer to make sure my daughter was okay, and was really sweet and comforting. NOBODY else, including Richard Lang, the director, showed the slightest interest.

In fact, some PA came to the trailer and rushed my daughter back to the set. When we got there, Richard Lang was all ready to try the shot again – in the same way that almost got her killed a few minutes before! He was getting people into position, etc., ready for another take.

"Not with MY daughter you're not!" I said, and he looked at me surprised. I explained, as if an explanation were necessary, that she had narrowly escaped being mowed down by a runaway 16-wheeler and if he thought I was putting her in harm's way again he was crazy. He accepted that but not with any friendliness or understanding. He showed absolutely no interest or concern with what had happened, he just wanted to get on with filming.

At least there was one caring, considerate gentleman on the set that day – the ONLY one, and it was John Schneider.

I met Mr. Schneider recently at a car show, got him to sign a Smallville picture for me, and I have to agree, he is one of the humblest, most down to Earth people I've ever met. He'll talk to you for a good 10/15 minutes and just seems happy to be there and meet you and talk to you. I'm glad to know that not all celebrities are obnoxious and there are still some good ones out there still
