Funny, I just finished watching this and by the end I was sure she must have been an android; when she handed Cherry 2000 the sandwich I thought, 'at least they have each other', and saw it as an oddly poignant moment. When we first meet her she's acting like Treadwell's weird ex-girlfriend, but I thought that might be based on her robot memory of their relationship, and we know he likes android women. During the shoot-out at the end she's pretty calm and seems android-esque. Why I'm reading so much into this beyond me, but yeah, I wondered too.

shareYou might argue that to be in love with a robot you'd have to be nuts. And that might've been the common element that Elaine and Sam had in the beginning, but Elaine really was a nut-job, where Sam just had a bit of selfishness going for him.
shareI think that the point is that Elaine goes about her life fulfilling her role for men in a very literal manner - almost identical to how Cherry 2000 acts. Lester was probably drawn to her due to her domestic skills, but left her because she was emotionally VOID.
Even the random rants of a robot ( who talks like an advert for MS Bing ) were more stimulating than Elaine's inane chatter.

No shes clearly not, an example of that is we see her eat the food unlike the Chery who just sit and play with it, and why do you think she told Sam to listen? thats because shes human and acted like that, and she didnt talk like a robot, like the Cherry. Lester might have wanted her to be like a robot for him by educate her with another name and the sandwiches and when Sam putted the chip in the walkman we hear the Cherry say those lines like at the dinner scene, but like its another remembrance, she could have repeated those damn lines everyday at several occasions.
The Cherry seemed to didnt care at all if Sam's been done with the food or not, unlike Ginger who cared if the sandwiches was eaten or not.
Actually Ginger is just weird. If I remember correctly I was convinced she is human, because she knows about Sam's relationship with a robot and she does not approve.
But then again, it was a long time ago I last saw Cherry 2000 :-)

I think the ending definitely pointed to her being one, when she's so nonchalant about Lester's death.. either that or she's a sociopath.
