Lucy? I mean the one from the movie, not real life. Did she go back to her old life, decided she couldn't live in civilization any more and went back to Reed, or did she went nuts and had nervous breakdown, or did she understand herself better now and had a much more fulfilled life...? Or something else?

Lucy went on to do exactly what Lucy did - write about her experiences and continue experiencing remote life elsewhere at some stage. Had she not written Castaway then the film may never have been made. At least not as accurately as it was.

The point being that the constructed social frame ended once the two of them actually did create a real relationship - then they would probably not need the frame anymore and they would be free together. I hope. Not with out trouble though - like in Grease ;-)
