Would you want to be castaway with Oliver Reed?

Discuss...!!

Ahh poor Ollie (god rest him) on a attraction basis probably in his heyday; Like in the asassination bureau or Hannibal Brooks. But saying that he has a odd charm about him in this film - despite being crass and sexist the rest of the time - So being castaway away with Oliver Reed would have been an interesting experience

In one word - Yes!
It wouldn't matter to me if he looked like he did in the Assassination Bureau or Castaway or even Gladiator. A year (or more!) on a deserted island with Oliver Reed would be amazing.

I totally agree...if Oliver were still alive today I would have my husband take over my duties at home and spend a year with Oliver on a deserted island!

We'd need a heck of a lot of booze to last between the two of us, that's all I'm saying!!

I met someone who lived on the next farm to Oliver Reed in the early 1970s in, I believe, Surrey. I was informed that Oliver was a gentleman and despite his media headlines, was a very charming and gracious person who loved cats. He was well liked in the village and often donated money towards the village community, whether it was for a fete or a church appeal.
The locals were protective of Oliver, especially when some upstart would challenge him to drink.
A sorely missed person

Oliver Reed? No.

Amanda Donahoe? Yes, absolutely. Where do I sign up?

Stoshie, you said it for me too. Actually, though, I'd want to be castaway with the real Lucy Irvine. I've now read her excellent "Castaway" and "Runaway." Remarkable woman, she was then, both smart and pretty and gutsy. (And for all I know, is still now.) I am sure I'd have better pulled my weight than G(erald) did. She deserved better.

-----------

Two weeks later I read the chapters in "The Islander," by Gerald Kingsland, describing the "Castaway" story. Have to say, but his is by far the better telling of it even if only 120 pages long. The chapters also give me much more admiration and respect for him, and less for Lucy. The truth is probably somewhere in between.

He scares me! After spending my childhood watching him torment people in OLIVER!,THE SHUTTERED ROOM and BURNT OFFERINGS I think I'll pass!
