She died??

I just read that she passed away back in July of this year.. I looked 3 other places and it all says the same thing. While I don't always believe when a celebrity does, it's hard to refute. Anyone else hear that?

And it's obvious I do not come on here cause it was last July 2015 not this year.. so that makes me anA ss.

Man, this bummed me out. I didn't see this movie in theaters when it came out, I was only 5 at the time. But a few years later, I rented it on VHS in like 1989 or 1990 and I remember loving it. Of course the farting scenes were the funniest to me (I was like 7 or 8) but I remember having a huge crush on Amanda..

Unlike my other '80s kid crushes - Phoebe Cates, Lea Thompson, Alyssa Milano, etc. - She didn't really do any other movies or TV shows that I had seen. And I hadn't seen this movie in literally decades, so I completely forgot about her over the years. But then I saw it was on TV again a few nights ago, so I watched it. First thought was "I miss my childhood!" Second thought was "I had such a huge crush on this girl when I was a kid, let me see what she's up to now." I google her and find out about her death..

I'm really saddened by it, considering I never even met her or saw anything else she ever did besides this one movie. So she was raped at 15, which is tough on any girl, I'm sure. Then this movie comes out when she's only 16 and she becomes super famous. And fame at a young age is not healthy, especially when you're already dealing with psychological issues, as proven by Michael Jackson, the cast of Different Strokes, etc. She didn't really stand a chance.

Many of us guys had the exact same experience as you concerning Amanda...having her as our very first crush. And that first crush sticks with you FOREVER. When Amanda died, like you, it brought me right back to my childhood and made me really feel bad. In fact I was surprised at how bad I felt! Why? Because you never EVER forget that first one. ;)
Amanda had all the talent in the world and it's just so unfortunate what happened, but I believe she's at peace now. Amanda will always hold a special place in my heart.

She was on a TV show called "A Year in the Life" about a multigenerational family. Sarah Jessica Parker was also part of the show. It was a great show and we watched every week, unfortunately it only lasted one season.

"The end of the shoelace is called the...IT DOESN'T MATTER!"
