The African Anteater Ritual

Why would anyone think that was American Bandstand? Then, how could anyone learn that whole convoluted dance from a 7 second clip? And then, why would everyone just start doing it? And THEN - why would the nerds recognize the African Anteater Ritual? Did they regularly watch the African Culture Hour? And if they regularly watched the African Culture Hour, why wouldn't Ronnie know the show wasn't American Bandstand?

reply

Ronnie was a nerd, and just saw a show with a stage and people dancing. So he just assumed it was AB. It was just very basic moves, repeated over and over. Or at least Ronnie assumed it was.

The nerds are nerds, so would most likely watch nerdy shows. They had no way of knowing Ronnie was watching it. And then, why tell him when he started the dance? He ditched them.

Yeah that was kinda silly. I found it hard to believe that all of those nerds were watching that African ritual thing that morning. Especially when it went head to head with wrestling. He should not have interrupted his brother while there was a good match on. I believe that was Bill Dundee's match that was on at the time. Looked solid. Maybe like him they all wanted to watch bandstand and that was pre emptied by the African ritual so they all just watched it.

And why was that one guy wearing a pink bow tie at the New Year's Eve party? Always some douchebag who has to nitpick every little detail of a movie. That's why i hated college. Let's analyze movies instead of enjoying them.

the real question is did they really only have one tiny tv in the entire house and it was in the kitchen?

reply

I live in a house full of nerds, well except for my ex-jock husband. Yeah, my kids and I always watched PBS and still do. :)
Also as far as the TV in the kitchen, maybe the parents were watching the other one?
