Didn't even know there was an English civil war

'I am not a historical fiction buff and didn't even know there was an English Civil War'.
I have found this in one of the comments ... My goodness and by the by what sort of school did the chap go to ???

The have actually been two civil wars over the years. The other was between King Stephen & the Empress Maud in the twelfth century.

There was also the War of the Roses.

As a proportion of the population there were more Englishmen killed in the English Civil War than in any other war.

After Oliver Cromwell died it did not take long for the heir apparent to the throne to be welcomed back to England.
