You know, I just can't see a kid being THAT attached to a Toaster

I can see "The Master" liking his radio or his blanky and MAYBE his lamp. But what kind of kid is that attached to a toaster or even a vacuum for that matter? He treats them as if he knows that they are alive and that they are his friends or something.

guess his parents didn't want to buy him any toys :p

Hey, I like my toaster more than I like certain people, seeing as how it provides artery-clogging toasted goodness without question or disloyalty, and people suck.

Who busts the Crimebusters?

He landed a pretty hot girlfriend too to be such a dorky looking guy too.

They love him because he's the only game in town. Their memories of spending time with him seemed pretty benign. Kid makes toast for himself and looks at his reflection while he's waiting for his toast? I could see that happening. A little kid vacuuming at all, much less enough to form a bond with his vacuum? Not so much.

When my younger brother was approx. 4 to 6 he loved to play with our vacuum. There was a young man around 10 on the Jay Leno show a few years ago who collected vacuums. It's not all that unheard of.

Have fun. Lifes' too friggin' short.

Some people form attachments for certain things.

Some people have a passion for toys, or cars, or antiques! Everyone's heard of the guy who loves cars, and repairs them just for... I dunno, his fascination and admiration for them.
I for example, have unusual fondness for books and plushies... I can't stand seeing good books and plushies being tossed away; I always go to yard sales to salvage old books and stuff. I'll always repair old teddies; sew them back together and restuff them! I just HATE wasting things, I cherish EVERYTHING that was once owned by a parent or grandparent. I've saved all my childrens books and plushies for my own children one, and I hope I can teach them to not to fall into this infortunate pattern of just throwing stuff away and buying the 'new and shiniest' *beep* on market which becomes 'outdated' in less than a year.

The master seemed like a guy with a fondness for mechanics (he was able to fix the toaster and air conditioner, I'd be bloody clueless as to what to do). He was probably fascinated by appliances and gadgets as a kid and formed an attachment. Everyone has their thing.

Meh, I never took it that he was obsessed with his appliances or anything. I think they were just mementos of the past that he was excited to see again. I mean, they were always 'there' during his childhood, part of his life, etc. Then they get replaced by the new fangled ones...but I think once he sees them again he gets all nostalgic and 'aww.'

I always feel bad for inatimate objects and stuff like that, too. :P Like if I saw my old lamp being smashed I'd be sad haha.

As for the appliances liking him -- that's obvious. He's all they knew; they had a purpose when he was around, etc.

I don't know, if I was about to be literally crushed into paste in a junkyard and my old toaster, of all things, fell into the gears and saved my life out of the blue, I might sure as hell keep my lucky toaster, too.
