The suicidal car...

I actually never considered that when I saw this movie. I thought it drove away trying to escape the magnet but the magnet gets him anyway and dumps him on the conveyor belt. Although we dont see that happen thats just what I assumed happened.

Never considered the car put itself there!

Same here! At 4-years-old I thought the car was just driving away from the magnet because he could and the other vehicles couldn't. Even at 32-years-old, I STILL thought he was trying to just drive away from the mean magnet. I didn't think it was suicide until it was pointed out on here!

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. -Gandalf the Grey

Count me in, same here. Never realized it was a suicide...just him trying to get away. But now I see it. With the setup and everything, and him being the last one...and he looked even more dejected than the others. (And resigned, not scared.)

Yeah, I just figured that he made an attempt to escape, but was caught, and they didn't bother to show him getting caught. It wasn't until I saw people saying online that he purposely drove onto the conveyor belt and pointed out that said conveyor belt was directly in front of him, I realized the truth.

Like others said, as a kid, I never knew or noticed he drove towards the crusher. Realizing that in my teens was so intense.

Our songs will all be silenced, but what of it? Go on singing. -- Orson Welles

It is definitely suicide. Despite being a fully functioning truck, it makes no attempt to escape moments before getting crushed. It simply sings its sad song, reflecting on the precious memories of his owner.

Furthermore, the author of the book "The Brave Little Toaster" did indeed commit suicide.

reply

Either A) The magnet caught up to him off screen or B) The car drove himself onto the conveyor belt because he figured if he was going to go out he was going to go out on his own terms (suicide)

reply

When I was a kid the darker parts of the movie just flew over my head.
