This is unclear to me...........

I have a question about the ending. Why did Eddie Moran kill Marion? Any idea as to why you feel he did so?? Also, afterwards he turned and stared at someone who was watching out of the window in the mansion. Who was that person and what was the meaning of that stare??

Hope someone can answer my question.

Thanks alot

Eddie Moran killed Marian because he was ordered by his father - and by association the rest of the family (the ones who survived the shootout, that is) - to get rid of her. Despite many warnings, Marian overstepped her authority as a Mafia wife and caused trouble for the family. Once they found she was working with the federal authorities, that was the end for her.

Being a dutiful son, Eddie did what Dad told him to do. He had no choice. That was dear old Dad watching from the window (in his wheelchair; remember, he was an invalid) as Eddie left the gazebo after doing the dirty deed. The look on Eddie's face said "I hope you're happy"! It is clear he really loved his wife, but the responsibilities of his position in the family dictated that he had to follow orders. When he told Marian early in their marriage that her suggestion they just get away from it all was a fantasy, he wasn't kidding. He knew whereof he spoke.

The ending shocked me the first time I saw it and it still shocks me. The movie hasn't aged very well sartorially (or in some instances dramatically), being firmly 80's in its style. What WAS Eileen Brennan thinking with that rat's nest hairdo? Joe Penny's performance, however, was outstanding, as was Tony Franciosa's. The J.P. shirtless scenes were the icing on the cake!

As was said, it's based on a true story, but the clothing is true, too. As for why Joe killed off Melissa, he's a mafia husband. He cheated around on her and was happy for the excuse to unload her--so he could get rid of her and move on to the next babe. You didn't actually believe he was a simple lawyer, did you? Why do you think Eileen was killed? 'Because she'd already been slept with!

Based on a true story . . .

WHO was the movie about ??

reply

Not true. Eileen was an old lady, old enough to be his grandma, why on earth would he sleep with a woman that old? She was killed because she opened her mouth about the drugs in her work place. And the wife was killed for being a traitor. He wouldn't have needed to kill her in order to have an affair on the side. That is just plain ridiculous.

I agree, Rajesh. The older woman wasn't romantically linked to anybody.

I found the ending quite shocking. These TV movies are usually about some ordinary woman in extra-ordinary circumstances who ends the movie stronger than she was at the beginning. I certainly didn't expect her husband to kill her.

he had to she would of talked and he couldn't of had that plus that talia shire's character was told by her husband he was married before and his first wife was mouthy and he had to silence her so the family couldn't have squealers so when marion was caught eddie had to kill her to prove loyality and he was looking up at his dad after he killed Marion with a tear in his eye like "Happy Now? seen the movie ages ago and was wondering why marion didn't suspect eddie was in illicit acitvities when he picked her up on their first date in a limo when he said he was in construction and he his body guard was always around him and his family.

Marian didn't suspect because she was a young girl from the Midwest raised by her grandmother. I don't suppose they had many conversations about gang activity. As far as another poster asking what was with Eileen's/Sylvia's "rat's nest of a hair-do" that was they style in the 80's, teased to the max and frizzled from a blow dryer.
