Additional Locations?

There are some scenes that look as though they were shot in a small town along the Ohio River, possibly in southern Indiana, southern Ohio or southern Illinois. There are hills plainly visible across the river. Sure doesn't look like Chicago or Toronto. Anyone?

It looks like Port Perry, Ontario. Google images shows a very old fashioned looking small town that looks like the movie. Also, most of the actors in the small town scenes are Canadian. Wikipedia page for Port Perry says "Big Town" did film there, apparently quite a few movies/tv shows have used it for small town America scenes.
From Sony Movie Channel website:
"After a brief filming stay in Chicago to get footage to establish the city where the bulk of the story takes place. producers Ransohoff and Carmody moved the production to Toronto. Canada. Such outlying areas as Port Perry, Burlington and Hamilton were used to simulate the more rural look of Rockport. Indiana, while the streets in and around metropolitan Toronto served as Chicago, circa 1957. Most of the interiors were shot on the sound stages of Toronto International Studio near Kleinburg. Ontario, a 45-minute drive from downtown Toronto."
I remember when they were filming in Chicago. They did a great job of dressing Randolph Street (old newspaper machines with vintage headlines, they even put a marquee back up on what used to be a movie theatre (Oriental-since restored as a live theatre venue) which at the time was an electronics store but little of it ended up in the picture.
