BUDDY MOVIE.

I just thought I'd start a new topic here and say that I love this movie. James Woods and Brian Dennehy go great together, see "Split Image" if you get the chance; they were in that together too, they have great chemistry. Listen, I'm drunk. Why should I lie to you? I never even liked you, for Christ's sake.
Strangest f&%king buddy movie I ever saw. That's what it was, though. Stripped down to the bare bones, it was a story about friendship, and redemption, and warm fuzzy stuff like that. I love this movie. I think I'll drink a toast to it. And then another, to... Oh, I don't know, Winona Ryder or something.
Go to hell, all of you. :-D

Peace.

I agree, it is very much an interesting twist on a budy movie, but I think the buddy side had a detrimental affect on the ending

**No, no, really, spoiler comming up, stop reading**

I found the ending - the death of cleve to be just too twee and easy. He should have walked away from it, perhaps leaving people wondering which direction he would take next in life. The rest of the film, tho, top notch.

At first glance, the ending does seem too "neat" but if you give it more thought it begins to be more believable. Once the book is written, Cleve would either have to spend his entire life on the run or in prison. He chose the easy way out. I like the ending. You see throughout the entire movie how Cleve thinks of himself as some sort of "hero". His demise was heroic.

I'll have whatever the OP's been drinking! He *beep* up!

Don't hunt what you can't kill!

Ending didn't bother me, except for how easily the villain gave up to BD after he shot Woods. I mean, if you just killed one guy, would you really then casually turn yourself over to the cop?

Doesn't really matter, though. Great movie.

Hopefully you've sobered up by now. But yes, this is a great buddy movie – more like an anti-buddy movie. Very entertaining, and strong chemistry between Woods and Dennehy.

This is one of my favorite films; I agree that it is a dark buddy movie at heart. I also agree that the ending was too brief(then again, many films don't know how to end well).
