the saddest part is that no one will ever know about Benji's heroics

i think the saddest part of the movie is the fact that no one will probably ever know about Benji's heroics in saving those cubs and the ordeal he went through. his owner in the helicopter will never know about it, not even the hunter with the red shirt living in the cabin was aware of what was going on. the fact that Benji did it all in secrecy in which he'll never get credit or recognition for but because he knew it was the right thing to do is what tears me up. that is one modest super dog.

Well btmn25 we the audience knew of Benji's heroics and that is what really matters ( right ? ) . We will never forget what a wonderful thing he did for those cat cubs ( especially for him being a dog too - most refreshing ) . I thought this was an excellent storyline for this movie too ( very original IMPO ) . Thanks btmn25 for your subject post .

They might have some idea, seeing as how in the end, Benji was on the plateau at one end away from the new family and the hellicopter came to get him. I'm sure they saw the cat family as well.

It's been a long time since you posted this, but you say no one will ever know of Benji's heroics. Well, that's usually how it works with hero's. You're a hero because you are doing the right thing regardless of the glory you will receive. There are millions if real life hero's today that go unnoticed by all but those they have helped!

Of course they knew what happened. they recovered the film footage and released it as Benji The Hunted.
