Nazi Vase?

Maybe I'm wrong, but there's a moment when McGovern is coming into Steve's apt., and there's this weird ass vase that LOOKS like it has a Nazi symbol on it. Seriously, really looks like one. Am I nuts? Probably.

hahahahah omg yes!! I thought I was the only person who noticed that vase!

Just saw the movie today (again), I've seen it several times since the 80's. I did notice the vase with the swastika in it, I thought I was seeing things but I backed up and confirmed it was a swastika. Pretty bad taste for someone to put it in there.

Good eye! I guess Steve Guttenberg's character wasn't as sympathetic as we thought!

Haha! Awesome response "WarpedRecord."
I noticed that as well and was wondering if anyone else had either.

Thanks, esedwards. That vase is a very surprising touch in this film. I'm sure it was intentional, but I don't understand why.

It's not a "Nazi vase." Swastikas are a aign of good fortune and holiness in Hinduism and Buddhism. The swastika existed LONG before Hitler usurped it. Go look at the movie and you'll see the art was Asian on his mantle area. It was a Hindu piece with typical Hindu swastikas. It wasn't anti-semitic. Guttenburg is a Jew! LOL...Google swastikas and Hinduism/Buddhism and you'll get it....

Hey folks,

I did not go through the whole film again, but I re-watched the beginning several times from when McGovern entered his apartment until the bad guy ran away, and I never did see any vase with any sort of cross on it. Can someone point out the scene a bit better so I might find it?

Best wishes,

I was just watching this movie with my wife and paused it to show her that very thing but in an interesting bit of irony she didn't have her contacts in and couldn't see it. (True!)
Anyway, it is left pointing but there is indeed a swastika on the vase, probably meant as a Native American art object. Weird.

Someone asked where it was in the film. It is right after the trial when Denise, the assault victim, goes to his apartment to confront him about his lie. He invites her in for a beer and as they walk into his apartment it is on the left of the screen, plain as day, big vase with two prominent swastikas. Not the Nazi kind, but still ...

Not the Nazi kind, but still ...

Not "still." Completely different philosophy. The Nazis don't get to usurp a sacred symbol and taint it forever. Especially since it actually looks different, no circle around it.
