Is it true about the infamous story of Schroeder going into Golan's office threatening to cut off a few digits using a portable electric jigsaw if Barfly wasn't made? Was he talking about his own or Golan's?

Whatever, i'd just like to someday shake the man's hand or simply wave at him to thank him for making this movie.
