But even someone without a knowledge of filmmaking should be smart enough to figure out that most actors can't fart on cue, and if they can, the boom mic is unlikely to pick it up unless it's located right next to the ass.

Of course the fart was dubbed. I don't think Mrs. Dunaway would otherwise step so easily in the ground zero zone created by Rourke as can be seen in the film now.
