The village name - 'Hadleyville' - anyone noticed...

...that it's the same name as in famous "High noon".

reply

I'm not sure, but isn't that the same name as the town in Halloween also?

reply

Yes, same name as Halloween. Does anyone know where the location was for the shooting of Baby Boom in VT? I would LOVE to buy property in that area but can't seem to find out where it is.
Thanks

I contacted a motel owner in Westchester,VT. He said it was filmed in several cities in Vt. I went online and looked at some houses for sale in VT and the prices are sky high. I did alot of research on the film because it is one of my favorites. I bought several copies of the film in case I wear them out watching them over and over. The scenery is beautiful. I love the decor of her house in the country. Maybe we can talk some more about the movie !

Well you may not beleive this but I was actually in this Town "Peru" VT
on the July 4th date you wrote this.
It is about 5-10 miles if I remember from Manchester VT.
The store still has some of the props from the Movie in it.
The store is named JP Hapgoods

reply

You're a bit off on that. The town in Halloween was named Haddonfield, Illinois.

YOU CAN'T KILL THE BOOGEYMAN!

reply

It was filmed in and around the town of Peru. I know- you want to buy the house Diane Keaton's character lived in! The way it was at the end of the movie- all fixed up, beautiful, clean and nice. With a good, strong, solid roof, all new plumbing and heating fixtures and an endless supply of fresh, clean water!! LOL.

reply

You're right - I'd love that house. Anyone have the real address so we can check out some pics?

reply

The house in the film was at the time owned by Charles H. Grant and his wife Lillian. Charles Grant was a well known aeronautical engineer and former editor of Model Airplane magazine. It's a mile or two East of Peru down a long private drive off Rt. 11. (Peru is so small that when my Grandparents planned to stay the night there in the late 1920s they drove 10 miles past it not realizing it was a town! Has changed very little since.

reply

I guess since it's on a private drive that takes care of doing a ride-by if I was up that way.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

reply

no, in Halloween the town is Haddonfield.

it's close, tho.

reply

Actually, Baby Boom was largely filmed in my town, Peru. When they show her driving in, and you see the above shot of the car driving into town... that's just about the entire town. Only about 1/2 mile long, if that. We have a church and a general store -- JJ Hapgood General Store, where she ends up selling her... baby food, was it? or applesauce? Anyway, good pizza, 1/2 price on Thursdays... yum yum yum.

How is a raven like a writing desk?

Is the pond where JC loses the oars Hapgood Pond? We couldn't figure it out...

reply

I just dropped my cousin off at the Rustle Inn in Peru today! The owner of the Inn had a poster of the movie in her house, which prompted me to ask her where it was filmed and also check on Imdb.

Peru? Isn't that where Mt Bromley is, which has the largest alpine slide in the world?
